Binghamton Fire Department Mourns Sudden Loss Of Lieutenant Scott Pavlick
It is with deep sorrow that the Binghamton Fire Department shares the heartbreaking news of the unexpected passing of Lieutenant Scott Pavlick. Scott, a dedicated firefighter, died suddenly at his home on Tuesday, June 3rd, at the age of 47.
A Life Dedicated to Service and Leadership
Lieutenant Pavlick proudly served the City of Binghamton for over 17 years. Starting his career on April 1, 2008, he worked his way up with determination and honor, earning a promotion to Lieutenant on March 1, 2023. Assigned to Engine 1 on Group D, Scott was known not only for his steady leadership and tireless work ethic but for the deep commitment he had to his fellow firefighters and the community he served.
A Hero Who Saved Lives
Scott’s bravery was recognized time and again throughout his career. In 2009, he was awarded the Fire Rescue Award for heroically saving a man trapped in a structure fire at 59 East Catherine Street.
More recently, on April 11, 2024, Scott played a vital role in a dramatic river rescue at Rock Bottom Dam, where he and his crew pulled an unresponsive victim from the water and administered CPR, successfully restoring a pulse. His quick thinking and unwavering dedication saved a life that day and exemplified the courage he brought to every call.
A Friend and a Light in the Firehouse
Beyond his impressive career, Scott was loved for his warmth, humor, and the smile he carried even during the toughest days. His easy laugh and genuine care helped build a sense of family among his crew.

Scott's presence made the firehouse a stronger, happier place, whether through a perfectly timed joke or simply being there when someone needed support.
A Devoted Husband and Father
Scott leaves behind his wife, Jodi, and their 7-year-old son, Reagan, who was his greatest joy and constant motivation. A devoted family man, Scott’s love and dedication to his wife and son were evident in every part of his life. Reagan wasn’t just his son; he was Scott’s best friend and brightest light.
A Year of Heartbreak for the Binghamton Fire Department
The pain felt by the Binghamton Fire Department in 2025 is immense. Earlier this year, the department mourned the loss of Firefighter JR Gaudet, and now the sudden passing of Lieutenant Pavlick has only deepened the grief and loss within this close-knit family of firefighters.

Funeral details for Lieutenant Pavlick will be shared in the coming days. During this profoundly difficult time, the Binghamton Fire Department asks the community to keep Scott’s family in their thoughts and prayers.
