Am I just an impatient person? I think as I age, it's becoming evident that I just may be. Soon, I will be yelling at kids to "Get off my lawn!"

I also find that I'm getting more agitated waiting in lines, like the grocery store and more specifically, fast food drive-thrus. A few months ago, I was in the drive-thru lane of a national chain fast-food restaurant located in the Binghamton area for a total of 40 minutes.

Most of that time was just getting to the pickup window. And to top it off, even though the person at the pickup window read back my order correctly, they screwed it up anyway. Needless to say (although I will), I haven't returned to that fast food restaurant.

There's A Study for That

That experience made me wonder what fast food restaurant has the quickest drive-thru time. Well, of course, there is a study for that. And according to The Hill website, Intouch Insight analyzed the top fast food chains in America.

The Intouch Insight results published in October 2022, were compiled from reviews of more than 1,500 drive-thrus for 10 popular fast-food chains - Arby’s, Burger King, Carl’s Jr., Chick-fil-A, Dunkin’, Hardee’s, KFC, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Wendy’s.

The Fastest Drive-Thru is...

According to the article on The Hill website via Intouch Insight, the fastest drive-thru in 2021 was Chick-fil-A, but in 2022, that top spot was taken over by KFC, although the study found that for getting our food orders based on the number of cars in line, Chick-fil-A was tops.

Now for accuracy, meaning did they get your order right (and this is a big pet peeve of mine), McDonald's and Arby's tied for best with accurate orders at 89 percent of the time. Chick-fil-A dropped from first to seventh out of ten with an accuracy rate of 83 percent and Wendy's came in last at 79 percent.

What Drive-Thru Is The Best?

For overall drive-thru accuracy in 2022, The Intouch Insight study shows that the top spot is a tie with Çarl's Jr. and Chick-fil-A. Dunkin', Arby, and Hardee's tied for third. Chick-fil-A was also tops when it comes to the quality of food.

The average time spent in the drive-thru for 2022 was 6 minutes and 13 seconds. The Intouch Insight study shows that drive-thru service has gotten 10 seconds faster than in 2021, although the 2022 average time spent at the drive-thru was 45 seconds slower than the 2019 average.
