In January 2020, just before the pandemic hit, I was privileged to travel to, tour, and learn all about St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. I knew almost nothing about St. Jude, but I came away with a fantastic experience and why this hospital is so important.

Something that sticks out more than any other is that because of St. Jude supporters, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, so they can focus on helping their child live.

St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital was founded by Danny Thomas. You may think, why would this famous actor decide to build a children's hospital? According to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital website:

More than 70 years ago, Danny Thomas was a young entertainer with a baby on the way. Work wasn't easy to come by, and his despair grew. He turned to St. Jude Thaddeus, the patron saint of hopeless causes, and vowed: Show me my way in life, and I will build you a shrine.

Of course, Dany's radio, television, and film career eventually took off and In 1962, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital opened in Memphis, Tennessee. Since that time, the campus has grown with many new additions including research centers and patient care centers, and soon, an expansion of its strategic plan to target pediatric catastrophic diseases.

When St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital began in 1966, only four out of 100 children worldwide diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) would survive. Today, the survival rate is 94 percent. That's amazing, and that's what your donation does to help St. Jude and its patients.
