Oneonta, New York YMCA Announces Urban Sports Complex

The Oneonta Family YMCA has announced a generous $150,000 donation from Community Financial Systems Inc., the parent company of Community Bank, towards the construction of the new Outdoor Urban Sports Complex at 20 Ford Ave in Oneonta. This donation will be matched by Brian Wright, a retired Community Bank Board member. The check presentation will take place on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Y, marking the funding milestone needed for the project to commence in the spring.

The Outdoor Urban Sports Complex is a transformative project aimed at revitalizing the underutilized space adjacent to the Y into a vibrant sports facility. The complex will feature courts and fields for pickleball, basketball, and soccer, as well as areas dedicated to youth programming and fitness activities.

Frank Russo, Executive Director of the Oneonta Family YMCA, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: "We are incredibly grateful to Community Bank and Brian Wright for their tremendous generosity and continued support of the community. The check presentation ceremony will be open to the public, and all are welcome to attend and celebrate this exciting milestone for the Oneonta Family YMCA and the community.
