The generosity of people across New York really shines during the holidays and this years seems to be more of the same. At a McDonald's in Syracuse, for a limited time, Wegman's gift cards will be given to those who need help getting a turkey this year.

The temperatures are dropping and holiday lights are starting to show up on porches and homes. Thanksgiving is closing in and, for some, there is a fear that they may not be able to afford dinner this year.

The year is flying by! It seems like we were just talking about what costumes were going to be the hottest and most popular and now we are seeing Black Friday ads on TV and online. But before you click that purchase button, perhaps you want to consider paying it forward? There is no greater feeling than helping your neighbor and that is exactly what is happening at one McDonald's in Syracuse, New York.

Grant Kemmerer, who runs the McDonald's on Teall Avenue, will be handing out Wegmans gift cards that folks can use to buy a turkey weighing up to 14 pounds. The giveaway begins at five p-m at the restaurant but Kemmerer has not revealed how many gift cards will be available.

Here in Western New York, we are seeing people steppijg up to help those less fortunate as well. The annual Coats For Kids campaign is underway. People are asked to donate gently used or new coats so kids in the Buffalo area who otherwise couldn't get one, can get a coat or jacket for the winter.
