The Buffalo Bills are in a win-now mode.

The Bills want nothing short of a Super Bowl in 2022 and even though having Josh Allen at quarterback means they will be a contender every season for the foreseeable future, the roster is maybe the best it's ever been and the AFC looks weaker than we assumed.

The Bills and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. have been linked to one another since the summer, but the Bills may be going back to a team who they have a long history of with together.

On Monday, the Carolina Panthers fired head coach Matt Rhule, who went 11-27 in his time with the Panthers.

Rhule had four years remaining on his contract but considering the fact his teams in Carolina have only won one game when the opposing team scores 17+ points, the front office had to make this move after an abysmal 1-4 start.

This likely means the Panthers will be open to selling off veteran pieces before the November 1st trade deadline, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is one of the best all-around backs in the NFL and would be the first player on offense teams would call about.

The Bills reportedly called about McCaffrey this past off-season too.

McCaffrey has three years remaining on his current contract but what's fascinating is his base salary is only $1.035 million this season and there's a potential out in his contract in 2023.

Greg Tompsett of Cover 1 brought that up and said the Bills or any other team who trades for McCaffrey can either restructure or release him in 2023. The remaining money left after 2022 is not fully guaranteed.

The Bills have been getting by with Devin Singletary, James Cook and Zack Moss; however, if the Bills are still suffering from injuries on offense, maybe an injury that hasn't happened yet, I would not be surprised if Brandon Beane makes the call.

The Bills have a long history with the Panthers because of Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott coming from that organization.

The Bills former director of player personnel is Dan Morgan (2018-2020), who is now the assistant general manager for the Panthers.

The history is there as well. I would guess McCaffrey gets traded, either this season or in the off-season, but will the Bills be the team who decides to acquire him?
