In These Uncertain Times, There’s No Better Time To Call Your Mom and Dad
Let's be honest, none of us know exactly what's ahead for Western New York or the country in general (even the world) over the next few weeks.
It's okay to feel anxious, scared or nervous. Many of us have been stuck in their homes the past two or three weeks with no exact end in sight of this unprecedented pandemic.
But family will always be there, even from a distance. Any time is a good time to give your mom or dad a call to catch up, but now seems like such an appropriate time.
My mom and dad are both in their 60's and the last thing I want to do is be responsible for them getting this virus. But with all the technology at our disposal, it doesn't mean we can't talk, video chat or even just text.
There might be more downtime at home, too. Perhaps you've been so busy before this pandemic to talk with your parents as much as you wanted to. Something like this pandemic really puts life into perspective. Never did I imagine that all of the things we took for granted every day would be taken away in the blink of an eye, like it has with COVID-19.
I'm guilty of not talking with my mom and dad as much as I should. It was a country song that I heard this past Sunday that really moved me to write this post. This was released two years ago by Seth Ennis. It features Little Big Town.
Call your mom. Call your dad. Call your grandparents if you're fortunate enough to still have them here. Just try and escape from what's going on right now.
