A beloved delicatessen on Court Street in Binghamton has resumed operations.

Loyal customers of the Old World Deli were worried about the future of the business when it closed its doors in June.

The deli at 27 Court Street was operated for almost a year-and-a-half by Jordan Jicha, a recent Binghamton University graduate.

The business now is open under the helm of previous owner Mark Sherlock. He said the place was closed for several weeks for renovations.

The deli reopened on Monday. Sherlock, who lives in Conklin, had operated the business for nearly a decade.

Sherlock said the Old World Deli now is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays. He expects to start operating on Saturdays soon.

The deli is offering a somewhat reduced menu featuring many of the popular specialty sandwiches customers have enjoyed.

Sherlock said people may contact the deli at 607.238.1481.
