Humans May Soon Be Able to Communicate Using Brain Implants

I will fully admit that there have been times in my life when I’ve wished that I were able to read someone’s mind. Maybe I would have gotten that promotion if I’d only been able to read the interviewer’s mind and known the answers he was looking for. Maybe I wouldn’t have wasted a decade of my life in a loveless relationship because I would have known right off the bat that he didn’t feel for me the same way I felt for him.

On the other hand, there are times that I’m so thankful that I’m not able to read minds because I’m sure that I would be so hurt, my heart would be destroyed. Like when I make my little boy sad by disciplining him. I’m glad I don’t know what’s going through his mind because if I were to know the sad thoughts he was thinking, I wouldn’t be able to discipline and behavioral issues would run rampant.

If you’ve always wished that you could read minds, there’s a chance that you might have that opportunity in your lifetime. Dr. Eric Leuthardt is a scientist at Washington University and he believes that 20 years from now, any human who wishes to will be able to get a brain transplant that will connect their brain to the internet and in turn, they’ll be able to share information with others.

You know how people say, “I’d love to pick your brain?” Yeah, that. Call me old school. Call me a granny. Call me whatever you want, but the thought of this becoming a reality terrifies me.
