Governor Kathy Hochul says a top priority for the rest of this year is "bringing us back" - getting New York state moving forward following the Covid-19 pandemic economic challenges.

During her recent visit to Johnson City, Hochul told WNBF News that "small businesses that were absolutely devastated" continue to need assistance.

The governor said restaurants and shops across the state still need help after the challenges posed by the pandemic.

Hochul said more money should be made available for landlords who haven't been paid rent by tenants who've had Covid-related problems.

The governor is hoping additional federal funding will be approved so New Yorkers still in need of assistance can be helped.

Hochul said she wants "to let people know that they have a state government they can believe in again."
