Historic Brackney Inn Burns Again
Officials are investigating the cause of a second fire within the last year at a Susquehanna County landmark.
The Brackney Inn was expected to finally reopen in just a few weeks after being destroyed by fire in late October of 2017, but those dreams were dashed when a fire tore through the 150-year-old inn again at around 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 16th.
The blaze reportedly began on a back corner of the building and Silver Lake Volunteer Fire Company Chief Joe Tims told WBNG that this time, he believes that the structure may be a total loss. Tims told the Press and Sun, "When we got here the fire was already extended into the roof of the building. Smoke was coming out of the eaves, it was coming out of the roof, moving pretty fast through there."
There were no injuries and Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshals are investigating what caused the second fire to plague the Brackney Inn in less than a year.
