Ross Park Zoo in Binghamton is open and their family continues to grow. In June, the zoo announced that an African penguin chick was hatched to parents Adasha and Howard.

The African Penguin is an endangered species with only 52,000 birds left in the wild, so it's awesome that the zoo was able to add one more to the overall population. In fact, the penguins have called Ross Park home since 1997 but this was the first successful hatch at the zoo.

We have good news and bad news: The good news is that the African penguin chick is doing well. The bad news...the baby girl needs a name. You can help name her and help Ross Park Zoo at the same time.

Go here to submit a name. You can submit one or three names and the names have to be submitted by Monday, September 7th. The person or persons that submits the eventual chosen name will win a Wild Encounter with the African penguins at the Ross Park Zoo.

Amerca's 5th oldest zoo is located at 60 Morgan Road in Binghamton with the admissions booth open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day and closing at 4 p.m.

My three entries are going to be Tara, Riley {my daughters) and Traci (my morning show co-host.) What would you name the baby African penguin chick? Better yet, let Ross Park Zoo know, they would love to hear from you.
