The annual Southern Tier Heart Walk will be held on Sunday, April 8th on the campus of SUNY Broome Community College.  The walk begins and ends at the SUNY Broome Ice Center.  The event gets underway at 10:00 AM with registration, heart-healthy exhibits, food and music inside the Ice Center.

At 11:30 AM the Opening Ceremony will be held outside the Ice Center.  That will be followed by the Walk which be around the SUNY Broome campus. When finished walkers will be treated to refreshments and entertainment inside the Ice Center.

Open heart surgery survivor Gigi Puglisi and Regional Director of the American Heart Association Gina Chapman joined WNBF's Roger Neel to talk about the work of the Americann Heart Association and urge support for next month's walk.

Walkers are asked to set a fundraising goal of $300.  The goal of the 2018 Southern Tier Heart Walk is to raise $280,000. Walkers who raise $100 or more will receive an official 2018 Heart Walk souvenir T-Shirt.

Money raised from the Southern Tier Heart Walk goes to help fund research and advocacy in the fight against heart disease and stroke.  This marks the 30th anniversary of the Southern Tier Heart Walk.  Over the previous 29 years the Walk has raised over $3.8 million dollars.
