For example, Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law was released on Dec. 25, 2009, and according to boxofficemojo.com, it went on to earn over $500 million.

Two box office hits were released on Christmas Day 2012.  Boxofficemojo.com says that Les Miserables and Django Unchained each earned over $400 million.

If you're looking for a movie for the entire family, you might be interested in Spies In Disguise.  This Christmas Day release features the voice of Will Smith.  Local theaters showing this animated film include Regal Independence Plaza, AMC Marketfair 10, and Regal UA Oxford Valley.  Check out Fandango for more info.
