The Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 Is Becoming a Transformer
The Transformers and Ghostbusters are two of the most beloved franchises of the 1980s. Now they will merge, in the form of a very clever toy.
Hasbro revealed today that they are making the first ever “Transformers-Ghostbusters Collaborative figure, the Ecto-1 Ectotron. In car mode, it looks exactly like the Ghostbusters’ signature ride. But it can transform into a Ghostbusters robot, complete with a proton pack, neutrino wand, and even a uniform. (It has its own “Ectotron” name patch on its little robo-breast pocket, which is hilarious.)
According to the press release...
The figure is packed in a G1-inspired box featuring classic tech specs and comes with its own proton pack and Slimer accessory, and converts between two modes in 22 steps – a seven inch Ecto-1 vehicle and a TRANSFORMERS robot.
It’s sort of the perfect combination of the two concepts. It’s so perfect, in fact, it’s hard to believe, even with the rights issues, that it took this long for it to happen. It certainly makes a lot more sense than a transforming Bill Murray. (Wait, actually that sounds kind of good; can we get one of those next?)
The Ecto-1 Transformer will be available at GameStop in the summer of 2019. You can pre-order it now.
