Fruit Sold at Walmart and Aldi Under Recall
According to The United States Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.), Jac. Vandenberg, Inc. is recalling thousands of cases of fresh peaches, plums, and nectarines, because they may be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes.
According to the FDA website, the fruits were sold in Pennsylvania and New York, as well as 16 other states, and were sold at stores including Walmart, Aldi, and some other small grocery markets.
Here is a list of the items being recalled with the PLU stickers:
The peaches and nectarines are sold as a bulk retail produce item with PLU sticker (PLU# 4044, 3035, 4378) showing the country of origin of Chile.
The peaches, nectarines, and plums sold at ALDI are packaged in a 2-pound bag with the brand Rio Duero, EAN# 7804650090281, 7804650090298, 7804650090304.
The nectarines sold at Costco are packaged in a 4-pound plastic clamshell with the brand Rio Duero, EAN# 7804650090212.
So far no illnesses have been reported, but illness is a possibility if someone were to ingest the fruit.
According to the FDA, some of the short-term systems may include; severe headache, high fever, nausea, abdominal pain, stiffness, and diarrhea. They also reported that Listeria infection could cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
