Free COVID-19 Vaccines and Dinner for Broome Veterans
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Health officials say the supply of COVID-19 vaccine is finally starting to catch up with demand but the county will continue to find new ways to reach out to people needing to get a shot.
Pop up clinics for veterans and their immediate families will be held this month to give the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to veterans along with a bonus free meal.
The clinics will be April 14 at American Legion Post 1700 in West Endicott, Post 974 in Whitney Point April 21 and on April 28 at post 1645 in Binghamton. Call 778-6133 for an appointment.
Garnar says Broome County continues to pass the New York State vaccination average. 37-point-three percent of the population has gotten at least the first dose of vaccine.
Broome this week began taking appointments for hundreds of doses of the one-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine for clinics next week. All but a few dozen of those appointments were snapped up about 36 hours. Residents should frequently check the Broome County website for new appointment opportunities as well as the websites for local pharmacies and the New York State health department scheduling site.
