The "Retail Apocalypse" is continuing to run rampant, and Family Dollar will be its latest casualty.

Family Dollar was purchased by Dollar Tree in 2015, but according to CNN, has failed to become profitable.

The discount chain has announced that it will close 390 stores across the country, and will drastically change the stores that remain open. The plan is to re-brand some existing Family Dollar stores into Dollar Tree stores.

This plan will also include opening $1 Dollar Tree merchandise sections in some Family Dollars.

At the time of the announcement of the closings, no specific locations were listed. We will update this article if this changes.
