As New York Governor Andrew Cuomo April 13 said it appeared the worst was over for the coronavirus pandemic in the state, Garnar a few hours later said he thought the top of the curve in Broome may come in two weeks and everything is being done to make sure local medical facilities have the equipment and resources they need.

The death toll in the county now stands at 8 and another coronavirus hotspot has been identified. Along with the Broome County Jail and Susquehanna Nursing Center, there have been several cases at the United Methodist Homes Hilltop Campus but no specific numbers have been revealed.

Garnar says he wants to point out there are 112 active cases of the coronavirus since 27 people have recovered.  The total number of recorded positive cases in the county is 139.

Tioga County’s case count increased by one to a total of 30. Chenango County lists three more cases, bringing the total to 63.  Cortland had 25 recorded cases, eight of those active while the latest numbers from Delaware County showed a large jump from the last report to 53.
