New Endwell Golf Mecca Draws Crowds Despite Snow and Ice
Golf enthusiasts in the Binghamton area now have a warm place to enjoy their game even on cold snowy days.
Fairways Indoor Golf recently opened its doors at an Endwell retail plaza. The place has three high-tech golf simulators that give people a chance to experience some of the most famous golf courses in the world.
Chad Kies, one of the three Broome County men who own Fairways, said "golf is huge" in the region. He said he knew golfers would enjoy the opportunity to play during the winter but the initial response exceeded his expectations.
Kies said indoor golf leagues book a lot of time at Fairways. Individual groups also can schedule tee times at the individual bays by phone or online.
Live bands are being scheduled on weekends at Fairways, which also features a bar with a limited food menu.
Kies said 148 golf courses are currently available on the Fairways TrackMan simulators.
With the initial success of the business, the owners are hoping to expand the 3,200-square-foot Endwell site. They're also planning to open additional indoor golf operations in Vestal and in the Elmira-Corning area later this year.
