Endicott to Consider Tax Breaks for Village Gateway Complex
A developer is planning to move forward on a mixed-use complex in Endicott if a proposed payment-in-lieu-of-taxes deal is approved.
The project site is located north of East Main Street between Grant and Garfield avenues. The property was acquired in December by Marchuska Development.
Justin Marchuska said the company has plans to construct four buildings at the site east of Union-Endicott High School.
The Endicott village board will hold a special meeting on Tuesday at 5 p.m. to review details of the proposed project and to consider a 22-year tax abatement plan. A public hearing will be held on the tax break proposal.
Marchuska said his company plans to use two of the structures that would be built on the site. One would house its corporate offices and the other would be used by Marchuska Glass.
The project is contingent on acceptance of the proposed tax break. The plan needs approval of the village board and the Broome County Industrial Development Agency.
Endicott Mayor John Bertoni expressed support for the tax plan. He said the project would boost the village's revitalization efforts.
