Endicott Auto Shop Rebuilding After Devastating Fire
An Endicott car repair business that was destroyed by a two-alarm blaze is taking steps to reopen.
Fire tore through a building that housed Gamba's Auto at 534 North Street on June 25. The cause of the blaze was not determined.
Owner Mike Gamba opened the business in 2012. After the fire, he said he hoped to rebuild the shop.
For four months, the site where the building had been was quiet. But construction now has started on a new facility.
Steel and other materials were delivered to the property in recent days. Site preparation work has started and some concrete has been poured.
The new Gamba's Auto building will be a bit smaller than the structure that was wrecked by the fire.
The construction work is expected to be completed in about two months.
