Four people who work for Lourdes Hospital have gone to federal court to challenge New York state's Covid-19 vaccine requirement.

According to the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin/pressconnects.com, two doctors, a nurse and a scientist have filed a lawsuit in Albany. Their names have not been made public.

The workers contend Governor Kathy Hochul's mandate infringes on their religious rights.

They wanted to be exempted from the requirement because they believe they would be committing a "grave sin" by being vaccinated. They maintain fetal stem cell lines may have been used in the research and development of the Covid-19 vaccines.

A Lourdes Hospital spokeswoman released a statement indicating the organization has had a "high level" of vaccination compliance.

According to the statement, "a small number of associates" have opted not to be vaccinated. But, it said, the hospital is not experiencing a "staffing crisis" and Lourdes is continuing "to provide all our usual services to the community."
