Drive-In Movies Returning to Binghamton
Back in the day, Binghamton was home to two drive in movie theaters, The Airport Drive In up near the airport, and the V Drive-In in Vestal. Both of those are long gone.
Nowadays if somebody in the Binghamton area wants to enjoy a drive-in movie they have to travel to Unadilla, Elmira, or Dickson City Pennsylvania which are all just about an hour away. One Binghamton area businessman is looking to change that.
According to WBNG, Mark Yonaty, a local real estate developer and business owner, is going to set up a drive-in movie theater next door to NYSEG Stadium in the parking lot of the old Lackawanna Train Station.
According to the report, two movies will be shown this Wednesday night, June 10th. The movie Frozen will be up first at 9 p.m., and then at midnight, the classic comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off will be on the screen.
The ice cream shop located next to the train station, Scoopy-Dooby's Ice Cream, will be open for refreshments.
The drive-in movie series is a great way to get out of the house and enjoy a movie while keeping your social distance from others because you will be in your car. You can also make it I dinner and a movie night by getting food to go from your favorite Binghamton restaurant, and eating it while you watch the movie.
