Binghamton police, state police and sheriff's deputies searched the downtown district after an armed robbery at a beer emporium.

The heist at the Beer Depot store at 218 Court Street occurred around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday.

WICZ-TV FOX 40 News reported an employee said more than $1,000 was taken in the robbery.

Marked patrol cars converged on the area after a man wearing a dark-colored hoodie reportedly ran from the business.

The store is located at the corner of Court and Rutherford streets, east of the VA clinic building.

The suspect in the incident was said to have been armed with a silver-colored handgun. There were no reports of injuries.

Police used a dog in an effort to track the suspect. The armed man apparently ran south on Rutherford Street after leaving the business.

Investigators were seeking surveillance video from a Mirabito convenience store across the street from the Beer Depot.

Officers at the scene declined to speak with a reporter.
