The New York State Department of Transportation is not just “talkin’ trash.”  Office and maintenance staff are picking it up, too.

DOT employees are hitting the streets to take part in a statewide “Trash Blitz” in honor of Earth Day.  The big clean-up in Region 9 gets underway April 23 in Vestal, starting at the 4 Corners and moving to the Tioga County Line.  Workers are also picking up debris on the Brandywine, State Route 12 at Genegantslet and Route 434 in the area of Waterman Conservation Center.

Motorists are advised to look out for people wearing reflective vests and hard hats working along the roadways.

Region 9 includes Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Schoharie, Sullivan and Tioga Counties.
