Delays Expected, Work Resumes on Rt. 17/I81 Ramp in Binghamton
Work on pavement at a busy interchange in the City of Binghamton is back on with delays possible for commuters through the end of the week.
The New York State Department of Transportation had to delay the project due to weather last week but was due to resume the pavement rehabilitation October 12 on State Route 17/ Interstate 81 in Binghamton, closing a lane.
The D.O.T. says the work is on the 72A ramp from State Route 17 east to Interstate 81 north for pavement maintenance. The project was to resume at 7 a.m. October 12 and continue through Friday, October 15.
Officials had cautioned motorists they could be in for "moderate delays at peak commuting times."
Local drivers can avoid a tie up by avoiding that part of the highway, especially during the normal morning and afternoon commute times.
