An investigation is underway into the death of a driver at the Broome Tioga Raceway May 3.

New York State Police say the 38 year old driver partially exited the track at 3:40 p.m., hit some hay bales and the vehicle rolled onto its side back onto part of the track.

A second driver was unable to stop in time and his vehicle hit the other car on the roof.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center.

State Police say the man’s name is not being released until family is notified.

The driver suffered head and neck injuries in the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
