COVID-19: How You Can Help Neighbors in Need
Schools and businesses are closed. Government organizations have cut the number of on-site staffers. There are curfews and travel restrictions. Job loss is becoming a reality. There is so much uncertainty surrounding our daily lives. However one thing is sure, as a community, we have an obligation to look out for one another no matter how scary things may be. If you are looking for ways that you can serve our community through volunteering or donating financially, here are a couple of ways.
Call 211
When you call 211, you will be out in touch with someone who will take your information and out you on a list of people available to volunteer in our local community in whatever way you're able should the need arise.
Meals on Wheels
If you call 607-778-6206, you will be asked where you live or where you are willing to volunteer to deliver meals to shut-ins. You will be asked to fill out a an application and then will need to wait while it is processed, but once it is, you will be given instruction on how to deliver meals.
Catholic Charities Food Pantry
If you would like to help at a food pantry or handing out meals, call 607-723-4563.
Red Cross
The American Red Cross is in dire need of blood donations. If you can donate, call 607-785-7207 and you will be told where you can go to make a blood donation.
Donate to the CHOW Warehouse
The CHOW Warehouse shelves are dwindling and they need donations to bulk it back up so that they can continue to serve our neighbors who are food insecure. For every dollar you donate, CHOW is able to provide four meals and so, we've teamed up with Music for the Mission to accept Paypal donations. 100 percent of the money raised will go to CHOW to feed our neighbors. Whether you'd like to donate a dollar or a hundred dollars, you can do that here.
