Congressman Tom Reed Recovering Following Collapse
A Congressman who represents part of Tioga County and the Western Southern Tier is recovering after collapsing at the U.S. Capitol September 19.
Republican Tom Reed was preparing for an appearance on Fox Business when he fell.
Witnesses said the 23rd District Representative lost consciousness for about 30 seconds. He was taken to a Washington Hospital for evaluation.
Reed was elected to his 4th term in Congress in 2018. The former Mayor of Corning was first elected to Congress in a special election in 2010 to replace Eric Massa. Shortly following his election, Reed suffered a pulmonary embolism, forcing him to be sworn in during a special ceremony following a three-day delay.
The 23rd Congressional District in New York encompasses part of Tioga County along with Allegheny, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tompkins and Yates Counties along with part of Ontario County.
