Church Hosts Nearly Two Thousand As Officials Urge Public to Isolate
So much for taking their advice? As more and more city, state, and national officials urge the public to practice social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic, one church decided, "Hey, screw you and all your logic!" The service went on anyway.
NBC is reporting that the Sunday at Life Tabernacle Church in Central, Louisiana hosted a congregation of 1,825, despite the urgent message of keeping isolated to flatten the curve. When asked why the church still gathered, the pastor of the church says the church could not close, and that the pandemic could be healed by Christ.
NBC says the nearly two thousand attendees were spread over seven buildings on the campus. Pretty much any concept of social distancing was thrown out the window, as parishioners touched and embraced each other.
As of March 25, Louisiana has the seventh most cases of Coronavirus in the United States with 1,795. Christ was not available for comment.
