Chenango Valley is one of NYS Beaches Open for Memorial Day
Chenango Valley State Park is among those locations in New York where the state is opening beaches with restrictions for the Memorial Day weekend.
Visitors can use the swimming facility at the State Park in the Town of Fenton but they will have to wear masks when not swimming, keep beach towels and chairs 10 feet apartment, contact sports like volleyball will not be allowed and there will be no concessions.
Park attendance may be limited to help ensure physical distancing.
Broome County parks are open this weekend, but swimming areas are not as the county still evaluates operating procedures in light of concerns about the spread of the coronavirus.
As with the state facilities, social distancing and the wearing of masks is required. Most local park and recreational facilities have also closed off basketball courts and playground equipment over sanitation concerns.
Entrance to Otsiningo Park is limited to 200 vehicles, and 250 to 300 vehicles at Cole, Dorchester and Greenwood Parks.
Tennis courts and golf courses are open with health and safety considerations.
