Celebrities React to 2017 MTV VMAs: See What Lena Dunham, Fergie + More Tweeted
If anyone is invested in the MTV Video Music Awards, it's definitely celebrities—after all, they are the ones getting the awards. The 2017 VMAs ceremony has already drawn love, ire and spite from celebs across the board, many of them airing their thoughts on Twitter.
Kendrick Lamar's opening set, which fearlessly dove into police brutality and his longstanding feud with FOX News, earned fervent support:
Chance the Rapper's enthusiasm wasn't the only noteworthy moment, though. His yellow sweater and classic hat earned its own spot of attention:
Angora or no, though, it's hard to beat Nicki Minaj's bubblegum sexpot red carpet look:
Ed Sheeran's unexpected collab with Lil Uzi Vert drew eyes (notably from Cardi B), but it was as impressive as it was surprising:
Miley Cyrus, after weeks of hyping up her performance at the VMAs, took an interview about her highly controversial performances at previous ceremonies and put in one last pitch for her set:
In keeping with Miley's more toned-down marketing of her upcoming album, Younger Now, the performance was more stunning than shocking, earning lots of favor among the audience:
Fifth Harmony, winners of Best Pop Video for their song "Down (feat. Gucci Mane)," walked away with many blessings for their hard-earned success and incredible set:
Of course, Pink's acceptance of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award was a favorite moment. Her beautiful acceptance speech and all-around icon status had everyone in awe:
Jared Leto of Suicide Squad infamy gave a heartfelt tribute to the late Chester Bennington, the former Linkin Park frontman who committed suicide only a few weeks earlier:
Taylor Swift's new video for the already-divisive single "Look What You Made Me Do" was much better received than the track's premiere... at least among her more famous fans:
Naturally, some good old goofing off was in order to keep things from getting too serious:
Not everyone was in love, though. After all, what's an awards show without a little controversy?
Oh, well. There's always next year!
