CARES Act Funding Goes to City of Binghamton

While governments wait to see what kind of financial relief they may get in the next installment of a Coronavirus Aid and Relief Act, U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillbrand and Charles Schumer of New York say the City of Binghamton is getting over $87,000 in help as part of the first CARE Act.

The Democrats April 23 announced Binghamton’s allocation of $87,502 dollars and $58,008 for the City of Albany courthouse to deal with aspects of the coronavirus pandemic.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo have cited a lack of support from Washington draining budgets as governments struggle to support schools, health care, fire and police.

The first Conornavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act has been widely criticized for distributing huge checks to big restaurant chains and Harvard University while small businesses were left without Payroll Protection money.
