Building Erected for New Recycling Facility in Apalachin
A new structure has been built on the site of a Tioga County recycling plant that was destroyed by fire.
The Town of Owego building will house a $6 million facility that will be operated by Southern Tier Recyclers, a unit of Taylor Garbage Service.
Construction crews began erecting the structure off Route 434 in Apalachin in June.
Company chief operating officer Jared Taylor said he expects the sophisticated sorting equipment for the facility will be installed during November and December.
Taylor said the new plant should go into operation early next year.
