Broome’s COVID Death Rate Continues Upward March
Broome County’s infection rate is slowing according to Executive Jason Garnar but another two people have died as a result of COVID-19 November 3.
Garnar says a man in his 50s and a woman in her 90s died Tuesday, bringing Broome’s death toll to 104. The County’s new infections were 37 and, while the infection rate is under to the 5% mark, at around 3%, Broome remains in the state’s micro-cluster Yellow Zone. Garnar said during his weekly update he didn’t know when the region may be able to maintain the perimeters set by New York State to pull out of the restrictions. The two-week extension of the designation was due to expire November 6.
Broome County now has had 3,696 cases conformed since the start of the pandemic.
Tioga County for a second day has added to its fatalities attributed to COVID-19. November 3, Tioga reported three new deaths and another was reported November 4 for a new total of 37. Tioga had 26 new cases for a total of 767.
Chenango County also reports one more death for a total of nine fatalities. Chenango had two new cases to report November 4 for a total of 430.
Cortland County had ten new cases. On it’s Health Department report it said this week it had its first death from COVID-19, but state numbers had previously said the county already had one death and the additional report puts the death toll at two.
Delaware County again had no additional deaths. Its toll remains at nine but it added eight cases for a total of 201 since the start of the pandemic.
