Broome Woman Accused of Stealing $50,000 in Travel Scam
State police say several people lost thousands of dollars after they paid a Glen Aubrey woman to make travel arrangements for them.
Authorities say 48-year-old Lisa Stevens has been charged with second-degree grand larceny, a felony.
Police spent several months looking into claims that Stevens collected more than $50,000 from people to handle travel plans.
Investigators say Stevens promised to make travel arrangements for several people but never followed through.
Those who fell for the apparent scam contacted state police.
Stevens was arrested Tuesday afternoon. She was arraigned on the felony charge.
Investigators believe others who unsuccessfully tried to make travel arrangements through Stevens may not have filed reports with police.
People who believe they may have lost money in the apparent scam may contact the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 607.775.1452.
