Broome School Districts Update COVID Fall Restart Plans

As the COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise around New York State and many parts of the country, some measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus are being put back in place.

School districts around the region have been updating their web pages in the wake of the announcement Friday, August 27 by the New York State Health Department that masks are now required in public school buildings regardless of vaccination status. Districts have individual policies regarding vaccinations and remote learning.

Federal mandates require masks be worn on public transportation and that includes on school buses.

As the first day of school in New York is only a week away, parents are encouraged to check with their districts for specific requirements as well as the protocols the schools have in place concerning sanitation, distancing, testing and, in some cases, isolation procedures for student or staff who exhibit symptoms at school.
