Broome County is reporting at least 100 new cases of COVID-19 in the county each day over the weekend.  January 15, Broome reported 170 new cases, January 16: 125 and 100 additional cases January 17 for a total of 10,624 since the start of the pandemic.  There have been 205 deaths.

Other counties in the Southern Tier have reported a steady incline in the number of new cases of COVID-19 but few additional deaths over the weekend.

Delaware was the only county reporting additional fatalities with two residents reported lost over the weekend for a total of 20 deaths  Delaware County added 35 cases from January 14 to 993 reported January 17.  Chenango County’s last report on January 15 added 31 cases for a total of 1,612 and 30 deaths. Cortland County is poised to pass 3,000 cases of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic as reported over 20 additional cases each day on January 15, 16 and 17 for a total of 2,991.  There have been 58 deaths.  Tioga County’s last report January 16 had added 46 cases from January 14 for a total of 2,177.  There have been 64 deaths.

New York State reported 13,842 new positive test results for a total of 1,233,390 cases. There were 172 additional deaths state-wide for a total of 32, 897 lives lost since the start of the pandemic.
