Broome Humane Society Asks for Returnable Cans and Bottles
Area residents who may not have felt comfortable going out to cash in their bottles and cans for the deposits can help homeless animals.
The Broome County Humane Society is asking for returnable cans and bottles to be dropped off at the shelter at 167 Conklin Avenue (near the old Crowley plant), Binghamton April 20-25 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m to raise much-needed funds.
Officials say they would like people to drop off their contributions when they area already traveling and not to make any special trips due to the restricted travel recommendations during the coronavirus response.
The Humane Society is seeing much of its revenue halted as adoptions have fallen off but the expenses of caring for the animals continues. The shelter is also challenged as volunteers have to stay at home.
The shelter is hoping to raise $1,000 by the end of the effort April 25.
