A car owned by Broome County flipped over near the city water filtration plant on Binghamton's South Side.

Police were called to the crash scene on a dead-end section of Broome Street at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday.

The late-model white Chevrolet Impala overturned and wound up on its roof just north of Webster Street.

The pavement was strewn with glass from the car's door windows and a smashed taillight. Air bags in the vehicle had been deployed.

An ambulance was sent to evaluate a man after the crash but he was not transported.

Police were not able to provide details of how the vehicle overturned.

The identity of the driver and the affiliation with county government were not immediately available. It also was not known whether there were any passengers in the car at the time of the crash.
