Broome County Public Library Is Offering Fines Forgiveness
If just driving by the Broome County Public Library in Binghamton makes you instantly get sweaty palms and feel flooded with anxiety, it's probably because you've got a book (or two) that you were supposed to return and you keep forgetting (innocently!) to grab them when you leave the house. Now, you keep looking over your shoulder, waiting for the inevitable moment that the library police catch up with you.
Maybe that's a bit dramatic, but if you've got overdue library books, it's totally normal to be a little freaked out by what could happen if you never return them. Well, there's some good news. At least you're not the guy who found a library book that a relative checked out and never returned. And when I say never returned, I mean the book was checked out of the library for almost 100 years. True story- and get this, the reason the guy returned the book is because his library was holding a fine forgiveness program, exactly like what the Broome County Public Library is doing!
If you happen to have a book (or a couple) that you're late returning, the Broome County Public Library is holding a St. Patrick’s Day fine forgiveness event from March 12th-17th, 2018.
Grab your overdue book(s) and your library card and visit the front desk at the Broome County Public Library. They'll have you pull a random shamrock and that shamrock will give you a savings of 5%-50% off your fines.
