The impact of the coronavirus on county government continues to evolve.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar has announced most county facilities are closed, including the County Office Building, Clerk’s office, Department of Motor Vehicle Offices, Personnel office with Civil Service exams postponed until further notice, Real Property Tax Services, advising residents who need to make tax payments to call in advance at (607) 778-2169. Payments must be dropped off in person in a drop box in the lobby of the County Office Building.

The George R. Harvey Justice Building is closed. If you have an appointment with the District Attorney’s office, call (607) 778-2423 for an update. For questions for a probation officer, call (607) 778-2121. Defendants can contact the Public Defender’s Office for an intake interview at (607) 778-2403.

The Broome County Dog Shelter, Health Department, Library, Willow Point Nursing Home and Highway Department are all closed.

These offices are open:

The Board of Elections, call before arriving, the landfill, county parks, Broome Transit, the airport (flights will continue as scheduled.)  The Department of Social Services is to close Monday for non-emergency purposes.  Assistance will still be available for emergencies like homelessness, eviction and disconnected utilities.
