Body Found Along Susquehanna River on Binghamton’s West Side
A man walking in a wooded area next to the Susquehanna River in Binghamton called police when he discovered a body.
Several city fire department units were sent to both sides of the river around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when the report was received.
The body was located between Laurel Avenue and Avon Road, three blocks east of Lourdes Hospital. A fire boat was dispatched to the scene on the West Side in case a river rescue was necessary. The boat was not needed.
The man who found the body declined to comment to a reporter. Police at the scene and a detective supervisor also would not discuss the investigation.
Firefighters assisted police at the scene for about an hour.
