Binghamton Restaurant Week continues through Thursday April 14th. It's your opportunity to sample great tastes from many Binghamton restaurants. Each establishment has designed a special menu, representing some of their signature dishes.

You'll find either 2, 3 or 4 course designed lunches and/or dinners from each restaurant, and it is a great way to try a new place, or restaurant you may know of, but never stopped in to try out what they have to offer.

My girlfriend Kristin and I were lucky to have been able to visit Sake Tumi for dinner on Saturday night to try out their exclusive Restaurant Week menu. We were greeted at the door, and sat at our places immediately. Our waitress, Julianna, was a very nice girl, knowledgeable about the menu, and had a ton of energy!

Kristin's appetizer was the edamame, and it was really good! Not dry, just the right amount of salt, and plump peas inside. I got the gyoza as my appetizer, which was basically a fried dumpling with meat inside. It came with a really good soy sauce/vinegar dipping sauce as well.

Kristin's main entree was the salkoro steak. On top of the thick medallion cuts of steak, and the huge amount of rice, the presentation was top notch. She almost didn't want to eat it, because it just looked too nice! I almost decided on this as my meal, but I thought that in order to give a fair review, we should diversify. I got the roll combo as my main course, and it was really phenomenal. I can't believe how much I got for the small price! It came with a total of 17 rolls, split between California, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura. There was no way that I could finish all of it, so I stopped about half-way, and got it to take home. Check it out, looks delicious, right?

We were sure to cut the entrees a little short, so that we had (a little) room for dessert and we're glad that we did! Her choice: the chocolate lava cake (because they ran out of the mochi ice cream). The cake is on their every day menu, and it is really really good. Now check this out... if you are sure to get anything during Binghamton Restaurant Week, make sure it is this: the apple bread pudding tempura. We are, as reviewers of the food, encourages to embellish a little, sure... but this dessert was, without embellishment at all, the highlight of the entire Binghamton Restaurant Week! You have to try it. Perfect amount of crunch, apple, caramel... just amazing. They should add this immediately to their permanent menu! I was sure to tell our waitress, Julianna, that she should tell their chef!

All in all, Sake Tumi is a top-notch choice, and even more so with the great three course meal bargain that you will get during Binghamton Restaurant Week! This was our first time to Sake Tumi, and they definitely won over a couple of return customers for sure. Check it out before the deals are gone, runs from April 4th - 14th!

Side note: their cocktails are amazing too! Pictured below: the Mango Margarita, and the Mojito.
