Binghamton Police Station Gets $1.2 Million Makeover

A major modernization project at Binghamton police headquarters is nearing completion.

Work on the $1.2 million project began five months ago. Extensive renovations were made throughout the police station located in the lower level of City Hall at Hawley and State streets.

City officials say the work included new floors, lighting and security improvements. Additional cameras and ballistic glass were installed, along with new computer workstations.

A new wall of monitors was installed so officers can monitor the city's network of street cameras.

Improvements also were made to police locker rooms, the roll call room and the gym utilized by department personnel.

Police officers had worked from a temporary location since construction got underway last December.
