Investigators say the man who was shot in a Binghamton neighborhood is expected to survive.
Authorities say police received a report of a man armed with a handgun near the Saratoga Terrace apartment complex around 8 p.m. Monday.
As officers headed to the scene on the South Side, they were advised that shots had been fired.
Police found an injured man on Dewey Avenue. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of three gunshot wounds.
Investigators placed evidence markers in the roadway east of Montour Street.
Detectives didn't say how the suspect left the area. They released no description of the person they are looking for in connection with the shooting.
