Binghamton Police Investigating Death of BU Nursing Student
A homicide investigation is underway after the body of a Binghamton University nursing school student was found in an apartment on the city's West Side.
Authorities say Binghamton police were sent to 23 Oak Street at 12:53 p.m. Friday to check on the welfare of a woman.
When officers arrived, they discovered the body of 22-year-old Haley Anderson of Westbury, Long Island.
Detectives would not discuss the circumstances surrounding Anderson's death or the identity of a possible suspect.
The apartment house where Anderson's body was located is on Oak Street, just north of Riverside Drive.
Binghamton police investigators are working with Binghamton University Police and the Broome County District Attorney's Office.
Binghamton police chief Joseph Zikuski and Binghamton University police chief Timothy Faughnan could not be reached to comment on Anderson's death.
A statement released by the university Friday night extended condolences to the woman's family and friends.
