Binghamton Optical to Close Doors After 120 Years
Binghamton Optical is winding down operations after serving customers for over a century.
Co-owner Kevin Whiting Tuesday said the primary office at 17 Main Street in Binghamton remains open for now but it's expected to close by the end of the month.
Whiting said the Endicott office on East Main Street closed last week and the other Binghamton office on West State Street is shutting down this week.
Whiting said Binghamton Optical has had a series of owners over the past 120 years. He and the principal owner, Bill Camp, had tried to sell the business but they were unable to find a buyer.
The decision to close came within the past couple of weeks. Whiting said he and Camp agreed "it was time."
Whiting said: "We had a great run."
