More than three weeks after an alleged incident that may have involved owners of a popular Binghamton bar, police have not reported any charges in the case.

Mayor Richard David on Wednesday said the investigation is continuing but no one has been arrested.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, David said detectives "have continued to monitor social media" for posts that have suggested illegal activities may have occurred "for a long period of time."

Police have publicly confirmed they've been investigating a possible incident that happened on November 28.

The mayor said detectives "proactively reach out to" people who post allegations "but no one is really coming forward to the police" to provide information about ongoing incidents.

David said he while people are discussing the matters online "but talking about it in a social media platform doesn't advance an actual investigation."

The mayor encouraged people with information to contact detectives. He said the police "take it very seriously" and they're "using every resource available to them."

David said "no one has been charged as of yet."

The Binghamton police detective division may be contacted at (607) 772-7080.

The Colonial, Dos Rios Cantina and the Stone Fox restaurants closed in early December as sexual assault accusations involving people linked to the businesses circulated on social media sites.

The mayor said - in his personal opinion - he expects the establishments "will probably remain closed through the holidays." He said he's "had no conversations with anyone involved in those businesses" so he doesn't know "what their strategy is, what they're thinking, what their timeline is."

David said he believes "it would be difficult for them to reopen before there's some sort of movement or closure in this case one way or the other."

The mayor said he's not aware of any other agency involved in the investigation besides the city police and the Broome County district attorney's office.

The owners of the businesses have not commented publicly about the allegations or when the bars may resume operations.
